Another 3lb Grayling.... (but not on a DDAS beat)
Added on 25 January 2012 at 12:23 by Steve Sudworth
From Nigel Bevis, a long time DDAS Member......

I really am a lucky whotsit! not only did I hook my first ever 3lb plus Grayling...55oz to be exact, but it was in front of an audience miles from anywhere but the hook link (2 lb 4 oz double strength)) snapped just as its tail went in the net, only the current and a swift left handed scoop saved the day. It took triple maggot on the second trot though a steady glide (Very unusual for me to fish a glide!!)
I went on to get four more including fish of 1lb 10oz and 2lb 1oz and only 1 trout -)

Was about 2 mile upstream of our Worgret beat! As a guest.  Read More >>

Match report - Handicap Cup - 15th Jan - Coking Fa...
Added on 23 January 2012 at 15:17 by Steve Sudworth
Fourteen anglers contested the Handicup Cup on a cold bright day with a stinging Easterly wind at Coking Farm and the dip in temperature put paid to hopes for a good days sport for most as the fish were tightly shoaled up.

Winner of this coveted trophy was Mick Brown, who after struggling for the first half of the match and going for a walk to warm himself up went back to his peg, put his fishing head on and decided to make something happen.
He cupped in 5 balls of groundbait at 13 metres and fished double dead red on the pole in 12ft of water to catch 6 carp for 31lb 1oz and second in the match. Apparently the lake was tripping through like the Stour - well, like the Stour used to. ...  Read More >>
Congratulations..Brian & Kim (Reels & Deals)
Added on 16 January 2012 at 13:22 by Steve Sudworth
They eventually tied the knot on Saturday 14th January after well over 20 years together.

Your committee agreed that we should get them a small present on behalf of the members. Knowing they both like a glass of Brandy now & again, we got them a very nice matching pair of Brandy glasses & a bottle of the stuff to go with it.

Lets just hope they have many more happy years together & continue supplying our needs for many years to come.

(they picked a nice day too, it was my 29th wedding anniversary on the same day).

The first full week of January is now over, all DDAS leased are now open for the rest of the year...(except for match days of course)...

For those that are not aware, the DDAS lased lakes are always closed for the first full week of January each year. This is a part of our lease agreement with our landlords.

One or 2 mishaps occured last week...ALWAYS WORTH CHECKING YOUR MEMBERSHIP HANDBOOK before heading for any venue, saves any disapointment.

Christmas Match Report. 18th December. Revels.
Added on 03 January 2012 at 09:22 by Steve Sudworth
There was a very respectable turnout of 32 club members for the Christmas match at Revels, and as a result all the lakes on the venue were pegged. The bright conditions and lack of wind gave the promise of a decent days sport but the drop in temperature and hard frost over the preceding days meant that most struggled.

Mick Brown won with 30lb of carp caught on the waggler & maggot on Dead Tree lake and claimed a £30 gift voucher as his prize. Second was Terry Green who was pegged on Trendles and caught 18lbs 10oz. Third was Nick White on dead tree with 17 lbs 15 oz. Ben Heath who hasnt been on the bank much in recent months proved he has still got it by taking forth place with a catch o...  Read More >>
