Terry Hatcliffe Cup, Revels Fishery, 9th November 2008
Match Report entered 13 November 2008 at 11:01 by Andy Miller
This match was due to be fished on the Stour at Hanford Farm but due to heavy rain the day before and saturated fields the river was bank high, thundering through, and unsafe to fish.
A quick phonecall to Jason at Revels and nine hardy anglers made a dash to Cosmore to fish there. As we had to fit in around other anglers and only had river bait it was decided to fish a rover match with no pellets allowed and any carp caught to have a nominal weight of 1lb regardless of size.
Given the squally conditions the weights were reasonable and spread across both Main and Middle lakes. Steve Crowford found a sheltered spot on Main lake and weighed in a level 11lb to take top spot. His catch included two carp, one of which would have been lucky to reach the pound it was awarded !! Rules are rules though and it didnt make any difference to the outcome as he was comfortably ahead of the two anglers who tied for second place, Terry Dell and Steve Sudworth, who both weighed in 9lb 1oz.
Once again thanks to Jason for use of his venue. Next match is on 23rd November - venue to be decided. Its scheduled for Kingcombe, but if the river is fishable I hope to finally get to Hanford Farm. Watch this space for details.
