The new Carp have arrived.

News Item entered 15 November 2009 at 22:24 by Steve Sudworth

The new carp ordered for introduction into Luckfield have arrived and are settling in nicely.

They arrived from the supplier.. English Carp Fisheries, Essex, during the afternoon of sunday 15th November.
They did not appear to be to stressed after their journey and after weighing & photographing each of the 10 fish for our records & for you to see a few of them, they were safely slid into their new home.
Great looking fish, the 6 commons were scale perfect and all weighed in at just over 13lb each. You can see in the attached photos that they are a proper BIG FISH STRAIN, you only need to look at the shoulder of the fish to see that are gonna be big....very big, in a couple of years. We are expecting that they will put on around 3 to 5lb per year as long as we keep the feed going in...most of that duty is down to you.
The 4 mirror carp that made up the 10 fish in total were slightly less hefty, they came in at an average of 11lb each, 1 fully scaled & 3 linear type fish, again see the attached photos.
I will be putting copies of all the photos in the back of the log at the lake in due course so they can be identified when landed in the near future. The breeder said he would expect them to be back on the feed in about 1 week.

Please, please....HANDLE WITH CARE...always use an unhooking mat when handling these beautful fish & return to the lake ASAP afterwards..now we have them, we must look after them for us all to enjoy for many years to come.
Enjoy.
